CAIS | Troop Cafe sits quietly behind the coach park on Mostyn Broadway in Llandudno, carving out a niche as a community-focused spot with a clear purpose beyond just serving coffee. Visitors often find themselves drawn here while waiting for transport or passing through the area, discovering more than just a caffeine fix.

The cafe operates like a friendly meeting point for locals, especially on Wednesdays and Fridays between 11am and 4pm, when groups gather for social meet-ups such as knitting circles and casual chats. It’s easy to spot notices inside about upcoming events or community activities, which adds to the welcoming, grassroots feel. This is a place where conversations flow comfortably, often among people reconnecting or making new acquaintances, reflecting its social and charitable roots.

The setting is modest—a small cabin at the edge of the coach park—but decorated with reminders of its connection to the military community. Photographs and memorabilia related to Mercian army equipment give the space a distinctive character, quietly honouring ex-forces personnel who the cafe supports. This aspect influences the atmosphere, lending a respectful, grounded vibe that resonates with visitors and volunteers alike.

For coffee lovers, the focus here is on simple, well-made drinks. Locals and travelers have noted that the lattes stand out among the offerings, making it a reliable stop for a quality cup when the weather turns wet or during a brief break in busy days. While the menu includes staples like espresso, Americano, cappuccino, and hot chocolate, there are also likely some home-baked cakes and breakfast options that people appreciate but guests would do well to check on the spot, as the menu can feel informal and subject to change.

All are welcome here, with a special nod to veterans and serving military members who receive a discount—a thoughtful touch consistent with the cafe’s ethos. The staff’s friendliness and the atmosphere of goodwill make it more than a quick pit stop; it’s a spot where community and support quietly intersect.

Best visited on weekday afternoons during open hours, the cafe suits those seeking a low-key, friendly place to relax, chat, and enjoy a fresh coffee in connection with local causes. It’s particularly valued by those connected to the military, local knitters, and anyone needing a moment of calm near the bustle of the coach park and theatre nearby.

Stopped in here while waiting for a coach July 2023. Popped in out of the pouring rain to get a coffee. Some of the best latte, I've had in a while. May just be a little cabin on the edge of the coach park but deserves merit. If I'd had longer would probably have stayed for a snack. Will def keep in mind if I'm ever down that way again:) Didn't eat so I can't rate food, but the menu looked good. Simple food, and the cafe was full when I was there about 4pm.

Troop Cafe to me is pleasant and lovely experience for me although I have to get two buses to get there. I look forward to going there as I meet old acquaintances I have met before and also I meet new people as well. I am a single person at home, so I look forward to going.

What a wee gem of a good place. We came across it by accident when going to Venue Cymru in Llandudno. You'll find it behind the theatre at the end of the coach parking area. We thought it was for the coach drivers, and were pleasantly surprised to see it was a cafe, but no ordinary cafe. It's main purpose is to support ex forces personnel, consequently the cafe is decked out with military photos and paraphernalia. It feels like a trooper's room. The staff are friendly, the food is basic but delicious. I enjoyed a bacon and egg sandwich followed by a custard slice with a difference - absolutely yummy. Please give the Troops a try when you visit Llandudno and you'll also be supporting a worthwhile cause.

OK, the menu is not exhaustive, but what is available is good. If you want to pay substantially less for your drinks and snacks than most other places in town, and not have to fight though the crowds, then this is the place to come. You will also be supporting a worthy cause.
